not booting

turn on my computer and it goes thru the normal things  and then it says no operating system  so i tried it again and now it goes to a blank screen and that is it help please

    Ben ....... What operating system is installed on the pc ?
    When was the last time it worked properly ?
    Does anyone else use the pc ?

    i am not sure on any of the above  was given to me and they said it worked fine and the one day it did this

      Ben  ..So its entirely possible that the hard drive has been wiped prior to you being given the pc ..........If thats the case you will need a operating systen to install on it .

      yes it is possible i have an operating system but can not install it  it is on cd

        Assuming you have a cdrom drive you will have to change the bios to let the cdrom boot 1st in the sequence, then put the disk in and boot from that.
