What can't Netbooks Do ?

The reason the term is being replaced is merely marketing reasons. "notebook" just sounds sexier then "laptop".

The original definition of a "notebook" computer was one that was the same size AS a notebook, thus 8 1/2" by 11".

and the notebooks open up and you have two "sides" like a actual notebook does.

Are you sure that netbooks can almost do everything that notebooks can do? Can they play and burn DVDs? Can they download photos off my camera? Do they have built-in webcams? What can't they do?

1. netbooks dont come with a built-in dvd/cd drive, can use an external one though

A netbook is a very small laptop designed to do basically everything a low-end laptop can do. They quite often (but not always) have a better battery life due to the low power Intel Atom processors.

If a small laptop can do it then a netbook should do it as long as the specs are high enough. The one thing I hate about netbooks is the lack of a CD/DVD drive.

A: only with an external USB burner which is not expensive

A: if you camera uses USB or SD then a netbook can

A: some do, depends on the model

Q: What can't they do?
A: games and high-spec requiring programs

IconWait, news on an actual operating system? What, no H264 news? It's not even Apple-related? Yes, you're not the only one who's cynical. Anyway, we always assumed that Windows Phone 7 would be built on top of Windows Embedded CE 6.0, but as it turns out, that's not entirely accurate - it actually uses the next version of Windows CE: Windows Embedded Compact 7. No information has been made available about this new version as of yet. Update: And here's an article on how the rumour mill suggests the future of Microsoft's mobile strategy includes replacing Windows Embedded Compact with... Windows NT. Yeppers.
Yes, this is all getting ridiculously complicated, and part of that is caused by Microsoft's categorical inability to properly name most of their products. Microsoft is in the middle of renaming its embedded range of products, meaning the the version following Windows Embedded CE 6.0 is named Windows Embedded Compact 7.
