    Memtest86
    « on: August 04, 2009, 05:28:47 PM »
Hi all, I want to test my memory so I downloaded memtest 86 but I cannot get it to burn on a CD. I have nero and everytime I try to burn it I get this error message....one or more files could not be added to a compilation, It may be possible that the files can be added if a dedicated plugin is installed.

Do you have to make a Audio CD? or a data? I tried data but it would not open. Can someone walk me thru the proper way to burn memtest86 to a CD?

    Instructions: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic62524.html
    Forget Nero.
Use ImgBurn: http://www.imgburn.com/index.php?act=download to burn .iso file.

        There is nothing to open.
If you burned .iso file to a CD, using ImgBurn, that CD is now bottable.
Boot from the CD to run the test.

ok it boots from cd at startup, What I am having problems with now is switching to another selection. The option says (CR) I tried that but It does nothing, I also tried (CR) enter no luck. ( I am really trying NOT to be a Dork here, lol).

The test should run by itself upon booting from the CD.

          As for commands:

          Command  Description:
ESC   Exits the test and does a warm restart via the BIOS.
            c     Enters test configuration menu
                      Menu options are:
                         1) Test selection
                         2) Address Range
                         3) Memory Sizing
                         4) Error Report Mode
                         5) Show DMI Memory Info
                         6) ECC Mode
                         7) CPU Selection Mode
                         8) Redraw Screen
                         9) Adv. Options

SP    Set scroll lock (Stops scrolling of error messages)
Note: Testing is stalled when the scroll lock is
set and the scroll region is full.
CR    Clear scroll lock (Enables error message scrolling)
