    OS Integrety Check
    « on: August 26, 2009, 09:08:53 PM »
Is there a program that can check the integrety of my OS? I am trying to fix another buddies computer and I think I have it fixed but I am still getting a couple of errors when trying to install Ad-Aware. I'm not too sure what is causing it I just know that it was seriously jacked up when he gave it to me.

It didn't work. I am working on Vista. Sorry I didn't state that in the original post.

start->all programs->Accessories->Command Prompt, Right click, select "run as administrator".

Now you can enter the sfc /scannow command. (needs admin privileges)
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

Any suggestions on fixing the registery? It seams to be crashing every program that tries to run.

Forget about the registry for now.

                You'll have to go here....

                http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html

If you've lost your connection, download the programs to a USB stick on a good PC and transfer them to your PC.
If you have difficulty, you may have to run them in safe mode, tap F8 at start, .
If you have difficulty, you may have to rename the programs when you save them.
If you get stuck on a step, proceed to the next .

Post the logs for step 3,4 and 6.

Here are the log files from the following 3 programs:

                  Malewarebytes
                  SUPERAntiSpyware
                  HiJackThis

After I ran the clean up of the corrupt files I tried rescanning and both Malewarebytes and SUPERAntiSpyware both get stuck on windows\system32\config\SOFTWARE.LOG1

I have no idea why. ???
