    « on: August 29, 2009, 10:12:40 AM »
got a dell dimension e510 running win xp.  there is a pesky spyware, windows antivirus pro and total security center, which causes annoying popups.  I did a search f or these name using search for files and folders and I came up with quite a few locations.  However I cant delete all of these entries as some of the files are in use (to  cause those popups).  I cant even go into add/remove programs to see if I c an uninstall the offending program t hat way.I tried to g et the machine to boot into safemode but whenver I do, it crashes, saying this system has been shut down to prevent damages to your computer.

    What can I do?

Visit our Virus and Spyware section and follow the instructions at the top of the page...
    Someone will be along shortly.
It's common for some infections to block access to safemode.
