    Help!!!
    « on: August 31, 2009, 04:29:04 PM »
My computer caught a nasty virus last night and it has totally devastated my computer.  I can't run adaware or AVG or any other kind of anti-virus.  I also have Windows Defender on a disk but it blocks that as well.  I also can't access the internet from my computer.  I click on Firefox and nothing happens, yet my DSL is perfectly fine and it shows I'm connected.  I use Windows Vista and recently got the computer from my boyfriend's mom who had no problems with it and barely used it.  I think the virus got me when I first used it before I had a chance to set up the firewall or run a throrough scan.  Is there anything I can do????   :-[

      You'll have to go here....

      http://www.computerhope.com/forum/index.php/topic,46313.0.html

If you've lost your connection, download the programs to a USB stick on a good PC and transfer them to your PC.
If you have difficulty, you may have to run them in safe mode, tap F8 at start, .
If you have difficulty, you may have to rename the programs when you save them.
If you get stuck on a step, proceed to the next .

Post the logs for step 3,4 and 6.

Thank you for the suggestions.  I'll give it a try when I get back home.  I also don't have a start button or the toolbar at the bottom at all right now.  Could that be from something I did when I was trying to figure out what was going on?

Most likely the malware causing this.........if it doesn't come back on a reboot.
