problem with command prompt in windows 3.1

i know this sounds crazy
but i am using win 3.1 and whenever i open command prompt
a dialog box comes up saying 386 display type mismatch
any ideas what causes this and how to fix
p.s. i am using the standerd vga driver but the ega one does it too

your 386 enhanced  mode grabber driver doesn't match the driver your using.

I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
