Dual boot Windows Vista and windows 7
    « on: September 03, 2009, 09:07:11 AM »
I currently have a pc with two 500GB HDD's on it. One is in use with 32 bit Windows Vista and the other is blank. When Windows 7 arrives in the UK(in the UK we are getting a clean start version rather than an upgrade version) in around 4 weeks time, how do I install windows 7 on the second drive such that I can dual boot the computer to work with  either "Vista" or "7" and how do I set up the PC to have the dual boot option. Also since all of my settings, files, etc are on the Windows Vista disk, will I have to copy these across to the second disk running Windows 7. Any help would be appreciated.

    Yes to the second question.

To install a second OS just boot to the Windows 7 disk and when the install routine begins you'll be asked where you want to install. Just choose the second disk. The bootloader will recognize there is another OS and from then on you'll have the option of booting to Vista or 7.
