    I have an  Dell 8300 with XP. I would like to dump everything and get it back to the origional factory specs. Do you know how?

          Boot to the XP CD and the install routine will begin. Choose the drive to which you want to install and the option to first format. Then just follow the on screen instructions.

            Provided they are the correct CD's that shipped with the machine.

            NOTE: The case won't be as shiny though...other than that...

            You'll need to install all the proper drivers after reinstalling the OS (chipset driver, video driver, audio driver, NIC driver, etc) and then install all the Windows Updates. And be sure to install an anti virus utility right after the drivers.

            xp may install the drivers by itself
            the part i hilighted in bold is very important
            xp can barely go a week before catchng a virus
