DAX error access voilation at address....
    « on: September 05, 2009, 02:47:29 PM »
awhile back i started getting a DAX error only when my browsers were closed and computer had been sitting idle for a while. the error read:
DAX error- access violation at address 133ECBC7 in module 'IOLOSM~1.DLL'. read of address 00000008.  it happened every time the computer sat idle for a while.  but now it says: DAX error - access violation at address 133ED00B in module "IOLOSM~1.DLL'. read of address 00000008.  it only happens like i said, when the browsers are closed and computer is sitting "idle". i have "system mechanic" which comes from iolo.com.  i have tried several posts but can't get any certain info as to what it is, why it happens, or how to fix it. is it serious? any info would be greatly appreciated thanks'

I suspect System Mechanic to be the culprit....

Boot to Safe Mode and "uninstall" the System Mechanic software.  Reboot to "Normal" mode and you should no longer have the "problem".

Why do you need "System Mechanic"?

See "Sabo" post, at the end of the following thread DAX Error Access Violation.  Sabo suggests you can resolve the error, but need better understanding of your startup environment, objectives, and how System Mechanic was installed and setup to run.  I don't know, but might be fun to try.

Let us know how much effort you want to put into this...

Maybe there's more information in Microsoft Event Viewer logs.

Click "Start", "Run", type "eventvwr.msc" without quotes and press Enter.

Look for errors in Application or System with date/time stamps that coincide with the problem you are having. They will be under Type and be red with a white cross (X) in them. Then check out the Event ID:

          Power up the machine...
Repeatedly tap F8 before you see the Windows splash screen...
          Select safe mode with networking.
A long display list on a DOS style screen will scroll by...be patient.
When it finishes your icons and screen appearence will be different...don't panic this is normal and will revert back next time you boot to normal mode.

          Good Luck.
