Did you just feel a need to tell someone or are you looking for help? Because if you want help you might want to provide some useful information. Such as, did anything unusual happen the last time you used the system? Do you see any lights when you try to start the computer? Are you using AC power? When was the last time it worked properly? Does the power supply have a light and if so does it light up? etc.

had some kind of virus or worm was getting ready to do a system restore.a message came on saying something like windows defender fouund problim with something,i cant remember after it finished it said it must restart windows ,and it wont come back on the power light is on but screen is blank .

On another system download a free boot time av (Avira, Avast, BitDefender), create a bootable disc, boot to that disc and run a scan

thank you both but i think the hard drive must b fried it wont respond i tried a backup disk and when i put it in it spins and nothing happens i think this a job 4 geek squad!

If you choose to spend money on the geek squad i can't tell you what to do...
I will however point out that even most of the part-time helpers on here know more than anyone from the geek squad no matter what books they don't study...

Why don't you read this first and pay particular attention to the following:

You cannot give too much information. about the system. Withholding information seldom solves a problem quickly, if at all. Please don't expect us to drag information out of YOU to solve YOUR problem.

If you contract with the Geek Squad, expect to pay $200, just to tell you what's wrong.
