BOOTING AUTOMATICALLY ON SWITCHING ON UPS

I am facing a peculiar problem. My PC boots up automatically when I switch on my UPS. I tried the options in the BIOS settings in Power tab...with all 3 options of After Power Failure - Stay Off, Last State and Power On.....but have been unsuccessful. I have even changed my SMPS but this has yielded no result. Please advice as I fear my motherboard or any other component may get damaged.
