Desktop turns itself on and off
« on: October 07, 2009, 09:46:24 AM »
My Dell Precision 390 Desktop started turning itself on and off.  After unplugging the power it would stay on a tiny bit longer.  Unplugged computer from power surge and plugged directly into wall...still does same thing.  Stays on a little longer if I have it unplugged for a while and then plug back in.   Will let me to the point to log on to computer then shuts down.  Had it looked at and power source not the problem, and all fans are working properly.  Any ideas???? ??? thanks  Windows XP

Problem solved...was bios

Could be overheating?  Check in the bios when it is booting up and see what the temps do.

Have you had the power supply inside the computer checked? It might be failing as well.
