Control Panel - Folder Options - View -
Put a tick in: "show hidden files and folders"
Uncheck: Hide Protected Operating System Files

Or, run this from command line (if the current directory is the on you want):

ATTRIB -h *

How can the current directory be the one he wants if he can't find it?

I think we've been down this road. Hidden files are hidden for a few reasons. One is to keep people from deleting things they shouldn't. Make sure you are 110% sure what you are deleting before doing so.

Better yet just stick to CCleaner.

You'd be better off if you posted anything you're not sure of.

And with all due respect to evilfantasy, for whom I have the utmost respect, ccleaner is no substitute for manually deleting files & folders you don't want or need. BUT - as evilfantasy says - be 100% certain you know what you are doing. Better yet, always have a current image of your drive to which you can return if needed.

Once you check: show hidden files and folders you should see everything. If you are downloading programs that install hidden files, that's a problem in and of itself.

Since I always have "hidden files" disabled in Explorer perhaps I've never noticed. Can you give me an example or two?

Obviously small apps won't use or need hidden files, but most programs' config files, last scan time etc. are hidden.

I'm sorry - but until I see documentation of legitimate programs that install hidden files I remain skeptical. And as I said, changing that one option in Windows Explorer will show you ALL hidden files anyway.

Then there are probably no other hidden files.
