    Vista help
    « on: October 17, 2009, 03:58:56 AM »
    Hi,

My gf laptop is playing up, she got a few viruses and I had to go to safe mode and scan the viruses. It deleted them but now the laptop wont work. It loads up but when she tries to open any program the mouse icon is loading but stays like that. Is there a fix for this? I dont have any recovery cd to help with so what is my options?

    The laptop specs are

    ADVENT

    Intel celeron M520 1.6GHz
    15.4" widescreen TFT (XGA 1280x800)
    1024MB DDRII 533 RAM
    Intel 943GML (Callstoga)+ICH7-M
With up to 128MB shared memory
    supports intel GMA 950
    80GB S-ATA HDD
    DVD+/-RW

There is also a msg that pops up which says

    Error loading c:\Users\william\ntuser.dll
The specified module could not be found

Im a bit of a noob when it comes to stuff like this so any help would be great. Thanks :)

First, This should have been in the Vista or Malware forum - but okay, it's here now.

Second, let's make sure the malware is all gone. I suggest you run a BOOT TIME anti virus scan rather than running it from safe mode (make sure you have the latest definitions). Then download and run a scan with Malware Bytes. If you still have a problem we'll go from there.
