Download, install, become familiar with, and use the "free"
CCleaner program on a regular basis. Along with clearing the browser history, it can also delete the
Index.dat files which seem to record the web site addresses you've visited.
I'd recommend you
not delete the "
Hotfix Uninstallers", however, as they are useful if you need to remove/reinstall a corrupted hotfix. You should also be aware one of the default settings is "
Only delete files in Windows Temp folders older than 24 hours". You may enable or disable that setting.
This is an excellent program used by many. So good, they provide four different versions: one with someone's toolbar, one without a toolbar, portable version, and U3 portable version. Most go to special "builds page" link of Piriform website for access to all four versions. See
CCleaner - Download Builds.
I'd recommend either one of the following:
o CCleaner - Slim (Installer, no toolbar)
o CCleaner - Portable (Zip file, no installer)
