YouTube slower at weekday nights

If I try to play a HD or high quality video on YouTube after dusk Eastern time, it is usually slow. I have cable Internet and many people have the same ISP. I know that Cable Internet shares bandwidth, DSL does not. Am I better of by not touching the HQ/HD button after Dusk, change to DSL or upgrade the service, or something else.

Depends on how important touching that button after dusk is important to you Run a speedtest first but youtube usually sucks at peak times anyway.

As the load on their server increases what they can send out diminishes.  I don't think there is a server out there that doesn't fall prey to load limits.

Everybody shares bandwidth at some point in the process.  The important question is what speeds does your cable operator and DSL operator offer.  And for how much?

In areas where cable and phone service have been upgraded some very fast speeds are possible, but you will pay for it.  In areas where the plant has not been upgraded your stuck with what you get.
