    Ok gentlemen,
I have attached the icon. Since I'm getting oin in years, and the icon is very small, upon closer view it is not an "i" in within the red circle it is an "!".
    Does this mean anything???

    Thanks
    Peter

See, like I said - it's an exclamation mark in a red circle  :P

That means the document has macros.

Wait, this discussion ain't quite over yet.  ;D  I just did a test with Word 2007 in the computer I have running Win 7 RC.  I created a small macro and saved in that document, as opposed to saving it in normal.docx, and the exclamation mark was then attached to the Word icon.  However, it was inside a yellow ... what can I call it ... scrolled sheet.  I've attached a large version so you can see exactly what it looks like.

I wonder whether that icon varies depending on the OS.  I have Office 2007 installed on a Vista laptop also but haven't done this test on it yet.

Soybean, good call.  Is there a possibility that the red circle indicates a problem with the macro?

There's some reference on Google of a white exclamation mark in a red circle caused by MozyHome. Other than that I really don't know - but it certainly doesn't seem to be any kind of problem, does it?

I just did the same test with my laptop running Vista and got the same icon.  I can't do a test with Win XP since I don't have Office 2007 installed with.  I do have Offce 2003 on my Win XP system but, as far as I know, it does not assign special icons to Word files with macros embedded; at least, it has no option when saving to save as a macro-enabled document.

I'm not suggesting there's a problem here.  Just wondering why the difference.  And, wondering whether wildwood has, indeed, described that part accurately, since he did not initally correctly describe the thing inside the "circle".

the icon attached by the OP was a 32x32 icon, rather then a - I guess soybeans is 128x128; it's possible that the icon designers chose to use red for the smaller versions of the icon, but thats just a guess.
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

From what I read on the web, MozyHome creates those overlays.  I don't know anything else about MozyHome or the icons. You can either look for options in MozyHome to see if there's a way to disable the icon overlays or just forget about it and move on. I'm sure there's got to be something more important you can start to worry about ;)

BC, I changed the size of the icons by opening Documents folder in Windows Explorer and changing the size of the icons.  I had the icons set at small size before the change and, with the small icons, the exclamation mark was definitely inside a yellow object.  If I reduce icons back to small size, it remains an exclamation mark inside a yellow object.  So, I don't think icon size is a factor here but I'm at a lose to explain why some users might see the exclamation mark inside a red cirle while others may see it inside a yellow scrolled sheet.

One remaining possibility seems to be the OS.  Is it different with XP than with Vista or 7?  Well, as Allan says, it appears not to be something to be viewed as a significant issue.  When I did a Google search on this, I really found very little in the way of helpful references but enough to verify the special icon appears when a Word file is saved as a Macro-enabled document or Macro-enabled template.

Soybean - it appears that it's related to MozyHome (see the posts above)

Well, I viewed this article, MozyHome Online Backup and saw no mention of such a feature in MozyHome.  And:
