Smoothwall for Router OK on old PC
« on: November 12, 2009, 07:08:00 AM »
I have a old PC and the specs are below:
266MHz AMD CPU
128MB SDRAM
4GB hard drive
CD-ROM + Floppy
I will use a ISA 10 megabit Network card for the Internet in and a PCI Gigabit for the LAN. My Internet connection is faster than 10 Megabit and I will lose Internet speed but I will have a Gigabit network.
I will use it as a router and is Smoothwall for Router OK on old PC?

The system requirements are extremely low, with any 386 and later Intel machine recommended, a minimum of 8MB RAM, and only 100MB of disk space. Any computer made within the last 15 or so years should do just fine.Although, Installing Smoothwall on a hard drive will erase all data on that drive.
