Hard Drive detected in bios and device manager not working

I have a PC with 3 sata HDs. The main Maxtor drive (11 months old) stopped working, message 'reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media'.
The Maxtor HD is detected in BIOS and Device manager but not in My computer or computer managment, I have checked and swapped  the HD connections .Powermax and Seatools cant detect HD. I have disconnected  the 2 other HDs but win xp disc cant find a drive to load windows onto. What else can I check.

If I understand correctly the problem is with the Maxtor drive only? If so, it's dead. If not, please clarify.

Yes the problem is only with the Maxtor HD. Is there anyway of retrieving data from the drive.

I assume it's not able to boot and you are booting from one of the other 2 drives?

Yes I'm booting from one of the other drives.

Try a new data cable...and disconnect all other drives except the OS boot drive and move the faulty SATA to another SATA slot on the MBoard.

I have tried different sata cables and disconnected the other drives . I have also connected the faulty drive to different  sata slots.

Right clik My Computer...select Manage then Disk Management...
Right clik on the Maxtor and select Properties...
What does it say ? ?

The faulty HD shows in BIOS and Device Manager, it does not show in Disk Managment.

It does appear that part of the drive has failed.  If Spinrite has failed, the drive is dead.  Data can be retrieved if you have $500-1000 to spend on a Recovery Service.  They swap the electronics from an identical drive and then see if the platters (discs) are readable.  Drive is probably still under warranty, so you should be able to get a new drive.  You will have to run the Maxtor tools on the drive, it will produce an error code and that's the code you provide to warranty returns when you call for an RMA.  Call Maxtor, they'll tell you what you have to do.
