    Laptop Battery Problem.....right group to post in?

    Im having a problem with a dell inspiron 6000. When I plug the adapter in the power lights comes on and stays on....but the hard drive
    light only lights up for about 5 seconds. I charged the battery overnite and un plugged it but the battery does not keep the charge. Im assuming the adapter is good because the light on it stays lit. Is this a battery problem? Looks like it but im not sure. Thanks

    can you pull the battery and try to run it off the adapter?

    If the machine is 3 + years old it's most likely the battery...
