    Internet problems
    « on: June 21, 2005, 09:02:39 PM »
I just reformatted my brother's computer. Windows XP Pro. Having a problem getting an internet connection now. I have him set up on a router. Linksys BEFW11S4. Ran through the Network troubleshooter to no avail. Hopefully someone can help me out here. TIA.

Not really sure where this topic belongs. Will put under computer hardware in case its a hardware issue. Also, the network card in his computer is detected as Microsoft Loopback Adapter.

I get a connection, the little window appears in the lower right saying the network is connected 10.0mps, but I cannot get onto the Internet. It is sending packets, but not receiving.

Problem solved. Cost $25 for a new network card, but it was worth not having any more stress over that problem. Thanks for your help all.  ;D

If the previous Network card functioned before you had reformatted, it would have worked after you had reformatted.
