Microsoft Word & Wordpad problem
« on: June 24, 2005, 06:46:25 AM »
Hope someone out there can help me with this one!
I have Windows XP and Office 97.  We have 4 user accounts. For the one user everything works perfect. (All users are set up as Administrators). But for all the others, if I create a Word document and save it as a Word doc it would automatically switch over to Wordpad. I fixed that by going into File Types.  But now all the documents still have the Wordpad icon beside them and say they are Wordpad docs. Even new ones that I have since created. When I try to "move" or "cut" one to another folder it does move but also remains in the old folder and I have to manually go back and delete it.

Let's give this a try... save a file, and then Right-Click on the file icon. Click on properties. If you look, you will seee that it is opening in Wordpad..... Click on the change button next to that. Next, select Microsoft Word, and click on ok, and ok to exit. I hope this helps!
