Hi everyone , I have just bought a new sony vaio  laptop with window 7 and I need to connect it with my desktop ( has window xp ), so I can transfer files to my laptop .

Get a LAN cable then go to control panel and in network connection give ip address to your computer something like 192.168.0.1 and in other computer do same and give ip address as 192.168.0.1 and done. now what ever files you want to share put it in sharing and you can access them from ny network  place.
