Changing the language on my operating system with a key
    « on: January 30, 2010, 02:00:18 AM »
    Hi
I have a problem with the language on my labtop's windows xp pro operating system. I got a computer from Hungary and therefore originally everything on the computer was in Hungarian. I then installed a danish version of the xp pro but everything still is in Hungarian. I have the licence key for the danish xp, but I don't know how to make my computer danish or at least English.
All I've got is the key, I don't have a CD.

    Someone knows a solution?

thanks a lot for your time!

What happens when you go into Regional and Language Settings in the Control Panel?

You can't change Windows language from within Windows. At least not in XP case.
You need to perform clean install with Danish, or English XP CD.

I forgot to include this link:
The Microsoft Multilingual User Interface Pack makes it easy for MS to deploy languages updates for many modern languages in a reasonable time frame.
        http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457045.aspx
But that link is only is for XP and XP is now an old product.

But this does NOT give end-users a quick way to change the language of the current  installed system. This might change in future Windows versions.

Like Broni said, Just go buy a Windows XP English version.

Vista Ultimate and Vista Enterprise give you that option.

I've used a few of the online translation programs, and most of them leave something to be desired.

I hate to think of what they would do to file names and extensions.

I'm not talking about 3rd party translation programs.
Microsoft Multilingual User Interface Pack can be downloaded through Vista Ultimate Windows Update.
