    I am looking at the belarc computer profile summary right now and I con't see a service tag what category would it be under?

      and that is all ???

        Lol thats ok thanks anyway Allan.  I'm going to take a break and tomorrow maybe wipe it clean  and try and install the drivers from Dell again.

          I wiped it clean and re installed windows ...all the proper drivers from Dell for an Latitude C810.  Nothing still no sound and no touchpad.  I called Dell support and they will not help me because I have no service tag.  I have no Idea why there is no service tag but there isn't.   I don't know where it came from originally its ancient.  But once I start something I have to finish it or it will bug me forever.  And I do know it worked before the re installment of windows.  Anybody have any fresh ideas???

          Run both SIW (system info for windows ) and Everest Home on that machine...
          Both are FREE and between the 2 we should be able to track down suitable drivers...

              Service Tag should be listed in the bios.

                In the bios service tag says Not Installed.
