Fairchild Semiconductor

Founded in 1957 by a group of William Shockley's former employees, Fairchild Semiconductor was a division of Fairchild Camera and Instrument Corporation who developed circuits and transistors. These semiconductors were used in the cameras produced by the parent company, and sold elsewhere.

Fairchild Semiconductor was notably successful compared to other companies in the field at the time, and became very profitable. After several acquisitions by other companies, it was purchased by and dissolved into ON Semiconductor in 2016.
