Unable to find icons in Windows Control Panel.

Question:

Unable to find icons in Windows Control Panel.

Answer:

By default Microsoft Windows XP and later versions of Microsoft Windows have the Control Panel set to display icons in the control panel in "Category View" as shown in the below visual example. Some of the instructions on Computer Hope and other sites may ask you to open an icon in Control Panel that is not shown in this view.

Microsoft Windows Category View of Control Panel

To switch to a view that displays all available icons available to you in one Window click the "Switch to Classic View" link in the top left portion of the window. Switching to Classic View will display all available icons as shown in the visual example in our Control Panel dictionary definition page.

If you're in Classic View and still missing icons please see document CH000136.
