Fictional Save button on computer keyboard

Alternatively called autorecover, autosave is a feature that automatically saves the document you are editing in case the computer freezes or the power goes out. By default, many programs autosave every five to ten minutes if changes are made to the file. The frequency of how often the program automatically saves is often adjusted through the program's option menu.

If the computer shuts off without saving the file, the last autosave automatically opens the next time the program opens. However, any changes that were made after the autosave are lost.
