Reinstall

A term used to describe the process of installing a software program that has already be installed. This step is commonly performed when a program has worked in the past but now is experiencing issues that cannot be resolved. To reinstall a program is to simply install the program exactly how you did in the past. Reinstalling a program should not erase any data or personal files created by that program but may reset the program settings back to default.

If a reinstall does not work properly, a user may also choose to uninstall that program and then install the program again; in some cases this can resolve issues that a simple reinstall will not. It is important to realize that some uninstall options may delete personal data. If you are ever concerned about losing your data you should backup your personal data before uninstalling and/or reinstalling a program.
