UAC

Short for User Account Control, UAC is a feature first introduced with Microsoft Windows Vista that helps provide an extra layer of security by not allowing any software programs administrative rights unless approved by the user or the application is run as the Administrator. Below is a picture of the UAC confirmation dialog box a user may see when attempting to run a program or access a part of Windows that requires permission.
