What is this "Defragment FREE Space"????!
    « on: March 08, 2010, 05:34:49 AM »
    Hello There! 8)

I have come across THE MOST Weird term quite recently aka "Defragment Free Space"?? :o
What is there in the "Free Space" to stack & pile up?(as defragmentation is usually explained!)

I got to know about this through PIRIFORM's popular utility >>"Defragler".

How exactly does this work & what's its significance in improving the PC performance? ::)

If you do not use this option, all files will still be defragmented (made contiguous), but there might be some free space between those optimized files. Using the "defrag free space" option, the utility will attempt to put all of the free space at the back end of the files. It's a nice housekeeping option, but serves little actual purpose.

I've been using PerfectDisk for many years (I'm one of their beta testers) and am a fan. In fact stand by - their new version should be released today.

Can you please pass on the 'Beta Version' test key or anything similar? I know that 'Perfectdisk' is a commercialware & is not free! ;D
