Is it my monitor or my video card?
    « on: March 29, 2010, 11:47:57 PM »
All of a sudden tonight, while looking at some photos, these horizontal colorful lines appeared on images and then the screen went black and the light on the monitor went from green to orange.

I rebooted and it came back fine for a while and then happened again. Sometimes the lines come and go and sometimes the screen goes black. This just started happening today so I am guessing it will just get worse fast.

I took photos of the screen with my camera phone of the same image- one with and one without the lines. My monitor is a Dell # E172FPt

    image without lines:

    image with the lines:

    thanks in advance

Have your tried to use a different monitor on that computer? If so and the problem is still there then i would say it was your video card.
