iPhone 4 unveiled by Apple
« on: June 07, 2010, 04:42:25 PM »
Steve Jobs revealed the fourth version of Apple's smartphone, the iPhone 4, tonight and said the company was bringing its ebook application, iBooks, from the iPad tablet onto the iPhone.

In a move aimed at cornering the ebook market, Jobs unveiled the new version of the iPhone and showed off its display – which he said could show content so clearly it was virtually indistinguishable from text on paper.

Really? Where can I find this mysterious back-lit glowing paper that they used in the comparison?
I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.

No, mine don't either.
But they do not wash out in sunlight.
You can use anywhere sunlight is available.
Oh, wait. That would not work in San Francisco.

my original point was simply that an iphone, or any screen, cannot possibly compete with the readability of printed text.

I think the Kindle does a pretty awesome job at creating the readability of printed text. IMO.

Personally I think my biggest complaint would be that the screen is so small for reading text. But the Iphone4 does have a screen that reportedly does match near to OLED and has a high res. So it is possible it could get close.

You know, I just don't get the attraction of electronic book readers.

I would rather use the one-eye head set used by Laura Croft in a recent movie. She was laying by the pool and reading  her e-mail.
Where can I get one of those?  :P

Both for me too.

And I have used one of those headsets, and it's cool.  It takes a little getting used to but it's really awesome to be able to walk down the street and see a computer display at the same time.  The computer was in a back pack.

I've always wanted a HUD... that way, I won't have to manually keep track of my ammo and health.
