compaq prolinea 8120

hi i got a friend who has a compaq prolinea 8120 computer, and i was trying to put some more memory in it well i got the cards in the computer but its not picking them up. what i want to know is , is there a certain way they have to be put in. or does it matter what kind they are. i dont have any sotware with them i had taken them out of an old computer, and thought that i could put them in her computer, can someone help me pleas. it has windows 98 on it, and only 16 mb of ram

    These are SIMM's that you are installing? What are the specs of your computer and memory?

    im sorry i dont know what you mean by specs the computer only has 16 mb memory and is a 32 bit system

      It does matter how you put your memory in the slot. There should be notches on the chip that support how it goes in.
