Wanting to Upgrade my Video Card
« on: August 17, 2010, 08:40:20 PM »
Hi there,

I have a HP a6650f PC and want to upgrade its graphic card.
I looked at the resolution properties and the graphic card being used is a NVIDIA GeForce 6150E nForce 430.

What kind of connection is it so I can look to buy another one?

Thanks

Your present video graphics are integrated into the motherboard. To upgrade your video graphics you will need to purchase a separate PCI Express graphics card. There are three different card bus types. They are PCI, AGP, and PCI EXPRESS. Open your case and compare the attached photo to your motherboard expansion bus slots to make sure you get the right one. Also check to make sure your power supply is large enough to power the new card.

what do you want to do on your computer? Do you play games? Or is it for websurfing and emailing only? Or Video making?

Then you find out what graphics card is best suited for your purposes, 'cuz getting a better graphics card than you really need is probably overkill unless you want the upgrade so you don't need it in the future.
