Audio problems

HI,  i use windows vista and IE for internet, when i try to play an internet streaming audio using any media player , the page takes a long time to download and then it'll say connecting but then it just shows the
 player with all the buttons with the word ready at the bottom but doesn't play, any suggestions please?!!

By what means are you connecting to the internet-modem-cable-dsl-what? Is this a new phenomenon or has this always been the case? truenorth
