I shall create a shrine. My ATI Rage Pro, Radeon 7000, Radeon 9250, All-In-Wonder 9000, and who can forget my ATI EGA Wonder.
Although, come to think of it, my last few computers have used NVidia graphics cards.
Can't wait for that awkward stage where nobody really knows What to call it- you'll have the older video cards with the ATI logo, and the newer ones that sport AMD (assuming they are continuing to produce graphics chips).
I can't remember if AMD was canadian, I know ATI was. For some reason it would appear that anywhere somebody has a problem with ATI's tech support, or the tech support of any company not based in the US (for americans, I mean) suddenly the problem isn't with the company's tech support, but the problem is the country. I made the terrible mistake of googling (was trying ot find out if AMD was canadian or not, wasn't sure) and was lucky enough to stumble on quite a bit of anti-Canadian hate.
Because of ATI's tech support. *censored*. how does "I can't get my video card working" translate to "they all suck and they depend on us for everything"?
Sorry... sorry... some of what I just read had me rather steamed
anyways, for the most part ATI is really just a brand name that AMD has kept around; to my understanding they're all one company and they just happened to keep the ATI moniker on video cards, probably for recognition. Ironically this means that those people complaining that we Canadians can't run companies because we have poor tech support are actually dealing with the tech support of an American company, which if they were aware would suddenly change their stance. That's what pisses me off, is when somebody has entirely conditional nationalism. I don't think it really matters what country a company is from, or what country they are based in.
