    Which gaming laptop is best??
    « on: January 05, 2011, 12:36:22 PM »
I'm new to this site but I just wanted to get some feedback as to which gaming laptop is worth spending the money on. The 3 laptops that I was looking into were 1- Alienware M17x, 2- Dell XPS 17", or 3- Ibuypower Battalion 101 17" X2700.
I am looking for the best of these 3 (or any better suggestions) for reliability, video/graphics, and general speed. If anyone is familiar with these laptops, I would greatly appreciate any info you can give me. Thank-you!

Wait. How much $$ do you envision spending on your laptop?

Then we find the best for your budget. The Alienware is pretty good but comes with a hefty pricetag.

The price range I was looking at was between $1500-2200. I've tended to go much cheaper in the past but that has just gotten me headaches with all parts that broke. I've gone through 3 cheap acer's and Hp's in less than 4 years so I'm ready to go with something more reliable...which poses another question. Are these laptops that Im looking into worth spending the money on for reliability?

IMHO gaming and laptop should never be used in the same sentence...

      Others may have differing opinions.

The thing is that I really dont use my laptop at all for gaming. It's just that in my past experiences, I have had many video/graphics problems  and from what I've been researching, gaming laptops seem to be the more reliable option. If you have any other suggestions for a reliable laptop, please let me know.

Newegg sells laptops. There's many customer reviews on the laptops they sell. Maybe that will help give you more info on people's experiences with various laptop brands and configurations.

Laptops can be used for gaming, yes. But you'd probably aim for a desktop if you wanted to really push the gaming performance.

If you just want a good laptop that will last and gaming isn't a priority, go for a business class laptop like the Dell Latitude or Precision series. It seems that they put higher quality stuff in those laptops and in my opinion is worth the expense.
They can usually be upgraded to much better specs than consumer laptops, too. (the Dell Precision M6500 can be upgraded to 32gb of ram, an i7 extreme, and 2 HDDs)

I love gaming consoles PS1,2 now Xbox 360. Tekken, Soul Calibur fighting game and of course tournaments and rankings. RPG games such as Resident evil concepts are my favorites. :)

Not a computer, not a laptop, off topic.

I feel the two best gaming laptop distributors are alienware and asus.
