wrong system info showing

recently i had a custom desktop computer built, they switched the entire operating system from the old computer to the new one. i just realized that in the control panel/system it's still showing the old computer specs.  does anyone know how i can bring this up to date with the new computers information? i certainly wouldn't want to reinstall windows xp.  any help would be appreciated.

Not sure what you mean. How are you getting this information? Please describe what you click, etc, to get to it.

Really? In general, it is not possible to transfer an installed operating system from one computer to another, unless the hardware is near enough identical, and even then there are usually issues. Is this "new" computer supposed to be built out of brand new parts? What are the specs of the new & old computers? A thought... how trustworthy are these people? Could they have just put all your old parts in a new case?

This entire scenario makes no sense...
Having a HDD swapped to a new machine even on the 1st boot it;s gonna show the new machines stats...not retain the ols ones.

i probably should have said windows xp and all of my other programs and files instead of "operating system".
following is what the new computer has in it based on the information given to me: Intel Pentium E6600, Asus P5GZ-MX motherboard, 2GB DDR2 ram, Western Digital 500GB SATA hard drive, 1.44 floppy, ATX towercase w/p.s. and LG DVD writer. following is what comes up under system/general: Hewlett-Packard Pavilion, Intel(R) Core(TM) 2CPU, [email protected] GHz, 1.80GHz 1.99 GB of ram. all of the other information under "system" doesn't seem like it applies to the new computer either, but to the old Pavilion. i know that i received what i paid for in the new computer just by the way it runs, fast. maybe this is a little more clearer?

When you first turn the computer on (before Windows starts) do you see the HP logo?

After you've downloaded it, double click on it to start the installation. Follow the prompts until the installation is complete.

Run speccy and at the top go to File and select publish snapshot. You will see a prompt asking you if you want to publish snapshot. Click yes, then copy to clipboard. Now, right-click on any empty space in your reply box and click Paste.

Now we can see your computer's specs.
