    windows media player / network problem

    i am having trouble downloading & watching videos from http://tubtub.com

    i get this error message


    " media player cannot play the file because

    the specified protocol is not supported "

    then it says

    " if you typed a url in the open dialog box

    try a different transport protocol

    ( for example ; "http " or " rtsp " )

    i dont understand the last part " if you......to rtsp )

    any help is appreciated .

    What browser are you using to watch Youtube videos and have you tried other browsers? Are you using WMP(version?)to stream or download? Please specify also current OS,computer specs/model/brand.

      its an acer  ,  32 bit  ,  3 gig mem  ,  vista home premium with sp-1

      windows 11.0.6001.7010 ....  with sp-1 2006

      2 browsers  ...   IE 8  and mozilla

      I think WMP makes no correct or direct streaming videos on the link you provided. While going to that site and clicking certain video streaming and prompting to use WMP personally encountered plug-in errors and missing. I may be wrong but to this date, I have to see a better WMP version(maybe on Win 7) with better codec or plugin support for streaming video files. Other members may give you a better suggestion so stay tuned. :)

      It works for me on my XP Virtual Machine using Windows Media Player 9.

      Also works on my Win7 with Whatever version of WMP comes with it, as well as Winamp and foobar2000.

      This looks more like a codec problem to me. I use the k-lite codec pack myself.
      I was trying to dereference Null Pointers before it was cool.
