washed out images on monitor

??? What to do, how to fix -
For the last week photos that we have put up on our PC in FinePix Viewer are all looking washed out on the monitor. What can we do to fix this. Our monitor is the CHIMEI brand.
The computer shop said to check the gamma, but we're at a loss where to do this and how.
Any help would be appreciated, as we want to put images up on a website but dare not if they're going to be washed out when they get to that website.
Thanx in advance. :)

Are you sure it's not the camera? Can you try another monitor?
