Talk Show Host - Radio Head Instrumental
    « on: February 14, 2011, 02:26:53 PM »
    Can ANY help?

Trying to find the instrumental version of Talk Shot Host - Radio Head  but I can't find it  anywhere. And please don't send me a crappy version. You know, those versions where some dude on the internet puts the song in Audacity, mono, invert and then exports it. They tend to be reallllly bad :D

    Cheeeeeeeersss.

Which version do you NOT want. Be specific.
Did you do a wide search?

First appearing as a b-side on Street Spirit, this song showed new style for the band to work in. One of their best and most popular B-sides which the band love. They let it be remixed for the film Romeo and Juliet. It was released on the soundtrack album, which is the best selling film soundtrack of all time. Most live shows in 1997 had this song, in an extended version from on the single, with much more guitar at the end.

One of the best B-sides ever recorded by any band, Talk Show Host presents Radiohead exploring the trip-hop style. The song recalls Portishead's debut album, Dummy. The original version, on the Street Spirit [Fade Out] CD1, is the most guitar driven of the versions released. The band has never articulated the song's meaning, but the number does contain some of Radiohead's best lyrics. The next version released was the Nellee Hooper remix on the William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet soundtrack, which differs from the original in that it includes various backing sounds and far less guitar, giving it a mysterious feel. The most unusual version is the Black Dog remix, in which the instrumental part and the vocals are played at different tempos than they are on the original - it's hard to sing along with. This version is very wild, and when the acoustic guitar comes in, the track takes on a magical quality. The best version, however, is the live take, with Jonny's added keyboards and a wonderfully long guitar jam at the end.

How this song is a b-side, I will never understand. I don't know how it would have quite fit on any of the albums, but its relegation to b-side status is, well, it's actually funny. There is no doubt that this is one of the greatest songs any band will ever write. The fact that it is a b-side only goes to show Radiohead's strength in depth. At least it did gain a good amount of exposure from being played in the film Romeo & Juliet, unlike Exit Music [For A Film] which was wasted on the credits.

I don't want versions which people have edited badly, lol.

I did do a pretty wide search.

And I think I agree, lol.

I know of 2 remixes of Talk Show Host, one by Nellee Hooper and one by The Black Dog, which are both on Disc 10 of the Radiohead "Towering Above the Rest" collection. The Nellee Hooper one was used in the movie Romeo And Juliet. The legal way to get copyright music is to buy the record.

I was a big Black Dog fan around 1992.

Hopefully that might encourage someone to make it exist.

              haha

              ha

              haha

I think actually there might be some confusion. At least I hope there is.

an "instrumental" is, (sort of obviously) merely the performance of a piece without any vocals... or occasionally with an instrument accompaniment instead of vocals (If I understand correctly, anyway). This could be either done because the artist(s) haven't finished the lyrics, haven't quite finished the song; usually as a "teaser" track. (for example, the Seven Seas of Rhye Instrumental that can be found on Queen's first Album), or simply be recorded after the fact (often as a filler to fill up an album, much like "acoustic" recordings). There are also karaoke tracks that are simply the result of running the appropriate filters on the actual track to remove the vocals.

The latter is NOT an instrumental version. It is a "karaoke" version. Also, the filtering generally diminishes the song quality.

I say this because the only way you can get an proper instrumental is of the original artists decide to re-record the piece without any vocals. The next best thing is for somebody to cover that piece and not provide any vocals. Either way, it will require a lot of effort. This is why I suspect you may actually be looking for something more like a karaoke version, because I am unwilling to jump to the conclusion that you truly think that creating a proper instrumental track to a given piece can be done by just anybody. The latter however can b e done by just about anybody. My three year old MP3 player has some silly karaoke setting that attempts to filter out vocals.
