My Windows 7 came on my machine. I haven't used it for awhile and when I put it together  today it says I';m not legal.

Do I have to do a  Windows 7 install and lose everything  just so I can put the legal serial in?

What does this mean??  Did you get the Hard Drive from another machine?? Did it boot properly??  How long is 'awhile' ??

Did you activate Windows when you purchased the machine ??
