    When Apples go bad.
    « on: July 20, 2011, 01:27:04 PM »
Today, Apple made some of the most stupid changes I have ever seen in the store.  First off, Mac OS X Lion released today. Ok everything is fine I guess... WRONG. One thing I don't agree on is the fact that you cant buy it on CD. Lets say you hard drive fails. You replace it your self and then you are stuck with installing 10.6 and then upgrading that to 10.7.  Apple also made some changes to there products. For $999 dollars you can get a rich man's netbook (Macbook Air).  No more white plastic macbooks :(. The specs on the new Macbook air are just BAD if you ask me. But I guess if you are looking for something that small, its worth it. There is also a new mac mini for $599, no CD drive anymore. I don't care how great you make your product look.  They are overpriced! Oh well.

Just to let you know, you can burn Lion to a DVD after you download it fro the App Store. You can then use that anytime you want to reinstall Lion. Disc media is starting to be phased out bit by bit.

The DVD divers in my computers get used 2 times a year at most.

Also, the Air acually pretty *censored* fast thanks to the Solid state memory, and how OS X manages it's self. Macs aren't cheap, but they are by no means terrible. Also, the Air isn't a nethook, so I don't know where you get the idea that should be compared to one.
Don't forget to give thanks if I was able to help ya! Please?

Apple has now announced that you will be able to buy Lion on a USB key as well.

"Users who do not have broadband access at home, work or school can download Lion at Apple retail stores and later this August, Lion will be made available on a USB thumb drive through the Apple Store® (www.apple.com) for $69 (US)." -Apple

It's small 11inch screen.  I guess I just like classic/older things over new.  I do miss my iMac though.  Stupid LCD.

Have you noticed people who use them have a flat spot on their nose?

According to benchmarks, the high-end 2011 MacBook Air is faster than the high-end 2010 MacBook Pro 17".

          That really sucks.......considering that I have a 2010 15".

I guess if you look into the specs more then it is faster.
