    AVCHD video Editing Hardware Requirements
    « on: August 02, 2011, 01:25:46 AM »
I have a laptop with Intel Core i7 CPU  Q720 @ 1.60 GHz, 1600 Mhz, 4 core(s), 8 Logical Processors and the software I want to use for editing states requirements :-  Intel Pentium or AMD Athlon 1.8 GHz (2.4 GHz or higher recommended) but also lists Intel Core 2 or i7 2.4 GHz required for AVCHD (2.66 GHz for AVCHD 1920).

Help ! I am very much a beginner and have no idea if my laptop has the power etc to cope can someone tell me if mine laptop matches or is better than the requirements ?

    Hi Sharleen,

    Welcome to Computer Hope!

    You already mentioned the answer:

Your Intel Core i7 is 1.60 GHz which is lesser than the recommended processor speed.

The requirements come from my software, Studio Pinnacle 14 Ultimate Collection,  my laptop edits fine for video from my old camcorder which uses old mini DV tapes but I want to upgrade to a High Def. camcorder and this was just one of the many requirements needed.

So you think my laptop will work fine on HD editing with the requirements the software is asking for ?

You should have said that was the program you were using first :P

The laptop will run that program fine, the final exporting of video may take a bit longer than on other pcs though. But I don't think it will.
