problem just started

When I open Firefox the Google logo and search box is gone replaced by a white screen (with all the tool bars still there though) and my "back" button will  not work. Outside that everything is normal. What did I do and how do I undo it?

now I notice the reload button also does not work

Assuming the problems are exclusively with Firefox, first thing you want to do is reboot. If the problem persists uninstall Firefox and reinstall it.

Try this, right-click beside Menu bar or beside URL/Address bar and check mark Navigation Toolbar. If no changes, then proceed to reinstalling FF as suggested.

To check the possibility of it being a wonked addon or plugin load Safemode Firefox from the Start/Programs menu...
Any difference ? ?
