Does this mean I have to upgrade Internet Explorer?
    « on: January 18, 2012, 06:41:06 PM »

I have a question. How come I have to delete my browsing history after a week or two? I used to be able to wait 10 or 12 weeks before I had to delete it and now I have to delete the browsing history often. Why is that? Can somebody help me, please?

And yes, I do bookmark pages but still, once I delete the history, I have to start all over again typing in passwords for sites and typing in websites etc.

Now, would this mean I have to upgrade to IE 10? The truth is that the computer does tell me to disable my add-ons to speed up my computer but the truth is that I need my add-ons.

Noting is telling me to delete my browsing history. Its just that when I go to a website and webpage, it doesnt say that in my browsing history.

There is some other problem with your machine and software. The fact that you "have to delete your browsing history" (a fact which you have yet to properly describe.. .Why do you have to? What happens if you don't? etc.) is not a problem, it is a symptom.

Another possibility is you just aren't looking at it properly.

Whatever the case, it doesn't mean you have to upgrade Internet Explorer. The leap in logic required to come to that conclusion honestly boggles my mind...

It would be great if there was someway that everyone else could see what it is that you are looking at on your computer.  That way we could see exactly what you are looking at.  I think most of the irritation comes from using different words and terms to describe the same things.  There's probably two ways to do everything.

Im sorry if Im being vague, Im trying to describe this the best I can, so I will try it again. Now, for example, Im on computer hope.com right now. Well, if I look tomorrow or even today at my browsing history to see if computerhope.com is on there, it wont be. Thats the problem. The browsing history does not acknowledge the websites and webpages that Im on. It will for a week or two and then it wont.

        OK ...much clearer...
The time limit can be set but it's different in each browser....which one do you use ? ?
For example in Firefox its under Tools/Options/Privacy/,,,use Custom settings...

        I do not use IE.

        However i just checked it...Tools/Internet Options/General/History...Custom settings...

Thank you for replying, patio. I use IE 9. Im just a little confused on what to do next because if your telling me to do:
          Tools/Internet Options/General/History...Custom settings...

I follow you up to history and custom settings. I have Delete browsing history and it says either Delete or Settings. Is that what your talking about?

Should I choose a low number? I mean it says I can save my history for 200 or 300 days. Im assuming I should pick a number lower than 200 or 300.

Well, if I want to save it for 100 days or 200 days I can do that right?

Why do you HAVE TO delete browsing history if you don't want to? Couldn't you just leave it alone or is it being deleted earlier than you'd like?

Thats exactly whats happening. The browsing history is being deleted earlier than I would like. And btw, I saved the history for 200 days.
