    power help
    « on: March 12, 2012, 11:30:24 AM »
I have win7. home premiume 64 Bit and 4. GB of RAM.

I made a power plane and then clicked on the tab on the left that says pick when the system goes to sleep.

    I set Display to NEVER
    I set Sleep to NEVER.

Then I clicked on Advanced Tab.

I have Hard Drive set to Turn Off after 30 Min.

And Hibernate Sleep I set to ON.

My system never goes down so I gess it is because I have Sleep set to NEVER in the main screen even though I have Hibernate sleep set to ON in Advanced screen. Am I Right?

And I left my system on overnight and my Hard Drive never shots off why I set it to turn off after 30 Min.
    Please help thanks.

Your primary hard drive is only going to go into a low power mode setting if nothing is running on the computer. It's likely a program running in the background of Windows or Windows is preventing the primary hard drive from powering down. Usually this setting is for external or secondary drives and not the main drive running Windows.

If you're concerned about power I'd suggest either powering the computer down or hitting the power button and letting the computer go into hibernation mode.

Thanks for the help I thought it would turn off the main hard drive because it use to in win xp when I set it?

One thing on the main power screen were I see my plan I click the tab to the right Change Settings.

And were it says turn off Display after   I set it to 5. hours.

But if I check the Advanced settings it has turn off display after   and I set 30 Min.

I know I know I gave 2. diferant times but my display turned off after 30 Min even though it has 5. Hours in the main screen.

So can I gess that whatever is set in the Advanced screen will overide the Main screen?
