Best distro of Fedora? Mint? UbuntU?
« on: March 27, 2012, 01:02:55 PM »
Is that not a dumb question?  8)

There are some many flavors taht you can't pick just one. Whit if you find 25 best versions? Are the all best at the same time?

The look and fell varies. That is by design.
Change the question to 'What are a ome of nthe better Desktop Environments for Linux

But click here if you want The Most Poupalr Linux.

Bear in mind that the above links are now already dated. Really, even one of the distros made of a year ago can be the best for you if it meets your needs. Still, both links above are useful for anyone thinking of trying something else.

My question is: Why are some people switching to Fedora? What does it have?

What?

"bleeding edge" = another way of saying "cutting edge" but also implying that you might get hurt using them (i.e. software that is barely out of beta).

Fedora? Compatibility with "un chapeau rouge"  :D  for one, and the fact that it uses .rpm while the the *buntu family uses .deb. Those are the biggest ones, I think.

i know ubuntu works with .rpm files, im not sure if its as streamlined as fedora or mint though
I consider myself a hacker. Not in the way of "I can break into your facebook" but in the way, I like to learn as much as I can, about anything i can. I don't just like having things fixed, I like to understand why it was broken and why a particular solution fixed it. It is just how I am, and how I will always be. As teachers have said before, you cant learn if you don't figure it out in your own mind.
